The Landing Gear Mise Au Point (MAP) team has a new opportunity in our team and we looking for the right person to join the department in Airbus Toulouse, France in the role of a Landing Gear Engineer.
Scope and Mission
The successful candidate will join the Landing Gear MAP (“Mise Au Point”) team whose mission is to provide engineering support to Final Assembly Lines, Flight Lines and Delivery Centers and also Flight Test.
The Landing Gear MAP team plays a major role to make sure that the Landing Gear and its associated systems are correctly configured and available to support all Flight Test activities. We also ensure the delivery of our aircraft to airline customers “on time, cost and quality”.
In addition to this “reactive” role, the team is also key to provide feedback on the performance and maturity of the Landing Gear systems. We are also engaged in longer term subjects to investigate, propose changes and improvements to reduce non-conformities and simplify production or test processes.
In the MAP role you will be able to directly experience the production, delivery and flight test environments. Through day-to-day activities you will also work with colleagues from across the business (for example Production, Quality, Design Office, Procurement, Flight Test, Chief Engineering) and our supply chain.
The role gives a unique opportunity to work in a close-knit team that is in a dynamic & reactive environment (where every day is different) and offers the chance to get close and hands-on with the aircraft.
Tasks & Responsibilities
All Landing Gear MAP engineers are expected to:
- Represent Landing Gear and provide direct line-side engineering support to FAL, Flight Line, Delivery and Flight Test teams during the development and industrial activities of our aircraft.
This can include troubleshooting, aircraft inspections, tests and result analysis.
- Liaise closely with the Design office, Suppliers, Quality and other Airbus departments (as necessary) to provide solutions to any problems experienced within the Landing Gear scope.
- Ensure the capture and feedback of design errors and their resolution to the relevant business areas. This makes the most from our “lessons learnt” with an aim to improve the maturity of our current products and also feed into new aircraft developments.
- Manage any Landing Gear and systems evolutions, upgrades and retrofits at the Flight Test or at the FAL. This includes the management of any temporary aircraft configurations.
- Continually develop and learn about the Landing Gear and its various systems, across several aircraft types.
- Achieve signature delegation (when ready) for the Aircraft Logbook, Non-Conformity, Design Query Notes and Special Instructions, to work without supervision.
Subsequently, when a sufficient level of delegation is achieved, provide Good for Flight Statements in the Aircraft Logbook.
- Provide “on-call” support outside of normal working hours, as part of a rota provided by the team.
Skills
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Highly motivated, proactive and a team player,
- The ability to translate complex themes into simple, relatable ideas,
- An Aeronautical engineering degree or equivalent,
- Minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience (e.g. Design Office, Customer Services, Production, Quality etc.) ,
Previous working experience with aircraft landing gear or aircraft systems would be very beneficial,
- Good understanding of Certification and Airworthiness requirements,
- Good knowledge of configuration control,
- Good negotiation skills and the ability to discuss and justify a technical position.
- Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written) . French would be beneficial.
